Best Chinese in Lake Tahoe. This is almost like how KY takeaways used to be. Great food, very quick, great service. We got the chicken cashew, pork wontons, combination fried rice, chicken chow main and egg foo young. Just original good Chinese the way it should be.
Reading reviews, I decided to see how fair the bad ones were. 1/ complaint about not taking overseas credit card (cash or EFTPOS only). Fair. My local take away doesn't either mind you. When in NZ and walking into a smaller store in a suburb away from the main streets, it's not unusual to not have paywave. 2/ fresh fish. Ordered "one fish". It was huge. It may not have been fresh but it was very tasty. Probably the best non-fresh fish I've had. I'm picky about food. I've had worse fresh fish, let's say it that way. 3/ the chips were fantastic. Very well drained. Also grabbed a burger: egg, cheese. As with most Chinese T/A burgers, very clinical. Good but not great. 4/ there is a smorgasbord Chinese food counter. See photo. Will check this out next time. 8/10 for food, 10/10 service, 10/10 cleanliness, 10/10 pricing ($18 for the lot). It fed two adults who couldn't finish it all. Will come back again. Added photos of the menu boards with prices as at Jan 24
Ist time diners Four dinner containers range from $13 to $20 each for the Chinese Smorgasbord Huge selection All very nice Only suggestion is a lil bowl of dipping sauce for the spring rolls/wontons would be beaut Thanks Highly recommend Pic is the smallest container for $13 :)
I ordered chicken fried rice and a Nasi Goreng tonight. Very satisfied. The food was fresh, hot and tasty. The service was friendly and fast. The place was clean and spacious. I was also surprised to read some of the negative reviews knowing that this place is run by the same that ran KY for years quite successfully. Negative local reviews are quite common lately when they don't seem justified. I wasn't disappointed with my order, hit the spot! I will be switching to this place as my local Chinese takeaway.
Had one of the nicest Nasi Gorengs I have had nationwide and a fabulous Wonton soup.
We are on a road trip around the North Island and tonight we decided to have takeaways. Now our local is the worst and you couldnt pay me to eat their food ever again. But this is by far the best Chinese food I think I have ever had. Five stars all the way. The service was great, greeted with a smile and very quickly cooked. The premises were clean and tidy. We ordered three Chinese dishes and each one had a good amount of meat to vegetables and cooked to perfection. I would recommend Lucky Star Fast Food to anyone and would definitely be ordering from them again if I'm ever back in Taupo. Thank you.
Excellent service and very clean! Wait time was super quick. Snapper was delicious. Chips were great. Sausage and squid rings were good too! True hidden gem of Taupō!!! Will definitely come back.
